Hokie Spirit Garden Trail Header

Stop number seven on the Hokie Spirit Garden Trail is a proposed garden at the Meadow Tree Arboretum.

The Meadow Tree Arboretum is envisioned as a natural area planted with native meadow plants and memorial native trees and includes a grass trail.

The site was originally part of the front 9 holes on the Virginia Tech Golf Course. With the construction of the Alumni Center, Inn and Conference Center it became a transitional open space buffering the new facility from the remaining golf course. The site was planted with native warm season grasses and flowers in 2007 and bloomed spectacularly in the summer of 2008. In 2009 walking trails will be mowed through the meadow with memorial trees selectively placed as they are received by the university. Remaining work includes the installation of benches along the paths and interpretive signs describing the meadow plantings.

The site links to the new Visitors Center site, the Tent Lawn Garden, Duck Pond Park, and a planned columbarium adjacent to the Alumni Center.
